THE ASBAC HOLDS VOLUNTEER AWARDS LUNCHEON
The Agawam Small Business Assistance Center recently held an awards luncheon to celebrate the volunteer workers at the center. The ASBAC now in it's third year of operation relies on volunteers from the business community to assist clients in counciling, answering the phones, perform office and clerical duties, assist with questions and inquiries, help to register attendees at the free workshops and many other needed services. These volunteers give freely of their time and energy to advance the operations of the center. Mayor Richard Cohen was on hand to thank the volunteers and to give each volunteer a certificate of recognition and appreciation. The Mayor also gave each volunteer a special gift, a commenitive coin that was made especially for Agawam's Sesquicentennial celebration.
Derek Jarvis, who is employed part-time for the ASBAC received a special certificate for all the time and dedication he gave the center above and beyond his regular duties.
Volunteers attending the luncheon included Bill Bennet, Jim Jenks, Peggy Cormier, Fred Stratton, Larry Pisano, Pat Roberts, Howard Smith and Marilyn Taylor. Other Volunteers honored but not in attendance included Micheline Shea, Sue Ellen Duga and Janann Thomas. Board of Directors for the ASBAC that attended included Cindy Ayre, President of the Board, Gina Fusick, Co-Chair and
Fundraising Chair; and Dee L. Emery - Ferrero, Marketing Chair. Deb Dochas Director of Town Planning and ASBAC Director, also in attendance, planned the special event.
